Dar Bensouda, Fes

Photos and Words by Taylor Simpson

Originally built in the 17th century, Riad Bensouda offers travellers to Fes a true Moroccan experience. The boutique hotel and spa rests in the middle of the medina in the shadow of an old mosque whose minaret is still apart of the property today. Upon arrival, guests receive traditional Moroccan tea and are personally shown around the riad and to their room. A breakfast buffet is prepared daily and included in the cost of your stay. Lunch and dinner are also provided upon request by the kitchen on site. The property is managed by friendly locals, so be sure to ask them any questions you have and for their recommendations for things to do. For most, a visit to the tanneries will be at the top of the list!

For those looking to have a more relaxed experience, we encourage a trip to the spa for a hammam or a dip in the pool followed by tea and a good read on the roof overlooking the ancient city. Upon arrival to Fes, it may also be in your best interest to schedule a pick up transfer to the riad as it is virtually impossible to find on your own! Happy travelling!

Starting at $145/night
